The start of the new year

This weekend, we're starting our second cohort for the DMBA program (we started the first cohort of 28 students two weeks ago). In total, we have 58 new students starting this year, plus two Dual Design Degree students continuing from last year. This makes 8 students total pursuing the dual degree.

Since we have so many students this year, we've divided them into two separate cohorts, the Reds and the Purples. They meet on separate residency weekends so their class sizes are all in the 25-30 range. However, we're building ways for them to interact across the program at lectures and other events. SO, they're part of a larger community but they don't have the feel of being lost in huge classes. This more intimate feel is important to us.

We have more international students than ever this year, from India, Iran, Jordan, Mexico, and Uzbekestan (about 7 in all). Our mix remains around 41% men to 59% women and our commuters number around 18% of both new cohorts (as opposed to about 23% of our second-year students). This year, they're traveling from: Los Angeles, Washington DC, Portland, Boston, Phoenix, and Cleveland. Our second-year students are traveling from Los Angeles, Orange County, Boise, Austin, and Vancouver (Canada). We're thrilled to have so many students participating from all around North America (we have a student from Mexico attending our Fellows Program as well).

We've largely kept the same curriculum, with some minor tweaks, and we'll be posting about each course over the next few days. We have some fantastic new faculty as well so our community is growing on all sides.
